The Song of Scorpions Movie Overview
According to an old legend, a scorpion’s sting in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, might result in death in less than 24 hours, and the only remedy is the song performed by a scorpion singer, which neutralises the scorpion’s venom. In The Song of Scorpions, tribal woman Nooran (Golshifteh Farahani) learns singing techniques from her grandmother Zubaida (Waheeda Rehman) in order to emulate the scorpion singer. After experiencing tragedy and being shunned by her community, Aadam (Irrfan Khan), a camel merchant who has been in love with Nooran since he first heard her voice, proposes to her. In the opening scene of the movie, a young girl named Nooran, a fiercely independent tribal woman, is studying the ancient healing technique from her revered scorpion-mantra grandmother. Adam, a camel trader in the Rajasthani desert, is smitten when he hears her sing. But before they can come to know one another better, a traitor poisons Nooran, sending her on a perilous quest to get revenge and discover her song.
